Mövenpick announces finalists for Gourmet Dessert Chef competition
Abstract
Mövenpick has announced the five finalists for its annual Gourmet Dessert Chef of the Year competition.

2014 runners-up Biju Joshwa (London Marriott Country Hall Hotel) and Zac Dearden (The Wooly Sheep Inn, Skipton) will join Jonathan Los (Bishopstrow Hotel & Spa), Heather Gibson (Hilton Glasgow) and Hannah Ward (Whisk and Spoon Catering) in the live cook-off at the new Good Housekeeping Institute in Soho on June 3rd for the chance to be crowned the 2015 winner.

This year, the competition challenged professional chefs to create a contemporary twist on the classic ice cream sundae. Award-winning pastry chef and head judge Will Torrent closely assessed each dessert entry, alongside fellow judges Sheila Eggleston (Cost Sector Catering magazine), Joe Lutrario (Restaurant magazine), Helen Wainwright (Good Housekeeping magazine) and Harriet Morley (Mövenpick Ice Cream) to select the shortlisted five.

The judge’s descision was based on five key criteria, including innovative use of Mövenpick Ice Cream, well-matched flavours and the origin of the ingredients used, as well as contemporary presentation and suitability for serving in gastro pubs, premium restaurants and hotels.

Following the live cook-off, this year’s winner will have the opportunity to showcase their recipe at Taste of London in June, as well as receiving VIP tickets to the festival, a three night stay at a five star London hotel and spending money for their trip.

The runner up will also be awarded tickets to the festival and an overnight stay at a four star London hotel.
