Abstract
Irish foodservice provider Mount Charles has raised over £100,000 for its charity partner, Cancer Fund for Children, since 2011.

Through a number of events, staff have raised a total of £109,633, which will help the charity provide practical and emotional support, as well as free therapeutic breaks for children diagnosed with cancer and for those who have a parent with cancer.

Founder and chairman Trevor Annon commented: “It has been an honour and a pleasure for the Mount Charles Group to be able to fundraise for Cancer Fund for Children.

“We are a locally-owned business that operates in cities and towns across Northern Ireland, and we are committed to supporting the people and communities in which we do business. Our partnership with this charity is one that is very important to us.

“Our staff have enthusiastically got involved in many initiatives that have helped provide vital services to local children with cancer and their families and built team spirit in our organisation.

“We are very pleased that we have passed the £100,000 mark in funds raised and look forward to continuing to help such a worthwhile local charity.”

Cancer Fund for Children’s corporate fundraiser, Leo Donaghy, added: “We are delighted that Mount Charles have passed the £100,000 fundraising milestone.

“Every year, Cancer Fund for Children supports over 500 families coming to terms with the devastating impact of a cancer diagnosis.

“Last year we provided 2,210 children, young people and parents with a free therapeutic short break in Daisy Lodge giving them the opportunity to spend quality time together in a peaceful and nurturing environment, which is far removed from hospital wards and treatment regimes.

“As we receive less than 0.5% of our funding from local government we greatly appreciate the dedication of Mount Charles staff, as they help us empower, connect and strengthen young people and families whose lives have been impacted by cancer.”
