Abstract
Mothers Manifesto went on a hunger strike from Sunday 10th to Thursday 14th March outside of Parliament to highlight no child in the UK should be going hungry.

The group of women want the Government to expand free school meals to all children in state schools and the implementation of a universal credit, which guarantees life’s essentials.

A spokesperson for the group said: “We are a group of mother's who each have expertise and life experience in motherhood, food insecurity and health. We have people who run food banks, work as activists, are full time mothers, doctors and NGO organisers, as well as support members who help with our messaging and logistics.”

Mothers Manifesto claimed on their website that ‘we will not stop until there is immediate action to prevent the unnecessary crisis of food insecurity'. According to research 2.3 million people die of malnutrition yearly and malnutrition is the cause of 45% of child mortality.

Emma Hopkins, who organised the protest told Sky News: "I'd say that we're facing multiple crises at the moment, in terms of the climate, ecological and social crisis. But, the future is not set. We can change the future and we know we can and that we must. This is why we're doing this action, because we want to make a future when no child goes hungry, and when no child starves to death."
