Carrieanne Bishop was recently appointed national vice chair of LACA Ltd and has already begun working alongside LACA’s national chair Anne Bull. Her term of office runs September 2013.

Carrieanne has been a member of LACA’s West Midlands Region since 2009 and the regional chair since 2010 having first joined LACA in 1999 as a member of the London and South East Region for 10 years and a member of the committee for 2 years.

She is also currently a member of the board of directors of LACA Ltd.

She has been head of service for Solihull Catering Services since August 2009, which is the in-house catering service for Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, managing both education and civic catering services.

She has a catering background, having trained to be a chef at The Savoy. She then joined the Army and travelled the world feeding the armed forces.

After studying diet and nutrition in the Army, she took a teaching degree, subsequently undertaking her first foray into the school meals sector when she took on the role of training manager/project manager for Hertfordshire Catering.

In 2004 (pre-Jamie Oliver), she wrote a book in collaboration with the Child Poverty Action Group (CPAG). This was called ‘A Recipe for Change - A Good Practice Guide to School Meals’.

After working in the London Borough of Newham as Healthy Futures co-ordinator and Enfield as head of catering services, she moved to the West Midlands to take up her current post in Solihull.

Commenting on her appointment as LACA’s new national vice chair, Carrieanne says: “I am privileged and honoured to have been chosen as the LACA vice chair.

“I look forward to working alongside national chair, Anne Bull and supporting LACA’s work as the voice of the school food industry.

“I hope that with my contribution and assistance to the national chair, we can maximise LACA’s resources and expertise to ensure that school food continues to sit high on the political agenda as well as that of other influential bodies concerned with children’s health and wellbeing.

“I will also be contributing over the coming year to LACA’s key activities and events to raise our organisation’s profile and to promote the good work of all of its members.”
