Independent caterer Hutchison Catering celebrates new portfolio wins

Gateshead-based Hutchison Catering is celebrating new catering contracts for three secondary schools in North Yorkshire.

This year, working with The Hope Learning Trust, the business will be working with Manor Church of England Academy in York to provide tasty, freshly prepared school meals to more than 1,300 students. In addition, it will continue to work with The Vale of York Academy, which is set to relaunch this year, and has recently opened Barlby School under the Hutchison banner. Other new school openings include Guiseley School in Leeds and Furrowfield School in Gateshead.

Andrew Hutchison, co-founder and director of Hutchison Catering, said: “We are excited to be opening these key new sites. Our menus are really proving to be popular with our customers, offering the kind of flexibility they want mirroring many international flavours and street food offers sold on the high street. By maximising variety in the food that we serve, and with excellent local and regional suppliers, our aim is to provide best possible service to each of our clients, while promoting healthy eating.”

Cathy Beaton, director of administration and finance at Guiseley School, commented: “We are delighted to have appointed Hutchison Catering. The team at Hutchison have created an exciting menu specific to our school we’re really looking forward to September when our students will get to sample the new offers. We look forward to continuing our partnership with them for years to come.”

Hutchison Catering says its key aim has been a variety in diet through healthy food to combat the well-documented growing epidemic of obesity in communities, particularly among young people. Believing that “healthy food equals happy students”, it provides schools, and all its clients, with nourishing meals every day.

Operating across the whole of the North East of England, Hutchison Catering works with more than 30 schools and feeds around 7,000-8,000 students every day. It also works with business and industry sites, including the Wilton Centre in Teesside, one of the largest Science Parks in the country, which has had a comprehensive refurbishment at its Lakeside Restaurant that reopened in August 2018.
