Former Westminster Kingsway catering student aims to raise £100k
Abstract
Joseph Allen, a former Westminster Kingsway College catering student, has embarked on his fourth fundraising event for Meningitis Now.

During his final year at catering college in 2012, Joseph lost his eldest brother Thomas (below) to acute bacterial meningitis and decided, with the support of his peers and lecturers, to host a charity fundraising dinner.

Within three months Joseph and his peers put on a dinner consisting of eight courses for 100 people. Brett Graham of Notting Hill restaurant, The Ledbury, sponsored three of the courses.

Joseph and his two brothers also completed the London Marathon in 2014 and have hosted clay pigeon shoots, mini marathons and tea mornings raising almost £75k in the process for Meningitis Now.

Now, Joseph is hosting his fourth fundraising dinner and aims to smash the £100k mark this year. Unfortunately, Westminster Kingsway College’s extensive building works have prevented the venue from being used and Joseph is seeking a suitable space for the event.
