Abstract
Contract caterer, Blue Apple celebrated Best Companies Day (1 March) across its nationwide sites by encouraging all of its teams to mark the company’s One Star Accreditation and inclusion in the top 75 list of best companies to work for in the East of England.

It was the first time Blue Apple has participated in the Best Companies initiative, which is designed to measure and analyse the levels of workplace engagement within a business.

The accreditation is based on a team survey and companies are given an overall score or measure of engagement, the Best Companies Index (BCI).

Ruston Toms, Founding Director at Blue Apple, said: “We are so proud to have been recognised by the Best Companies Index. In just 12 short months Blue Apple has gained one-star accreditation, which represents ‘a significant achievement that shows an organisation is taking workplace engagement seriously’.

“It is testament to the dedication of our employees across the business and the team spirit we work so hard to foster within each site we operate. We wanted everyone to celebrate and share in this success, and that may or may not have involved a large number of cakes!”

In addition to celebration cake, operations team were also present across the estate to hand out a special round of Blue Apple Shine Awards to mark the occasion. The Shine Awards are a Blue Apple initiative, introduced to recognise the dedication of the company’s team members and to reward those who go above and beyond to demonstrate the company’s values in their everyday roles. Awards on the day went to a number of individuals who ‘demonstrated passion, integrity, pride and a focus on sustainability in their roles’.

Toms added: “It has been fantastic to see the many pictures and videos of our teams celebrating.

“We have always been committed to creating an inclusive, focused and dedicated working environment and this accreditation confirms that our efforts are having a positive impact. However, we will not rest here, and I have every confidence that our programmes for continuous improvement will see us build on this already outstanding achievement.”
