Abstract
CH&CO has ‘highlighted’ its sustainability achievements and set its 2020 targets in its Planet Report.

In 2018, it was awarded the top-level three-star Food Made Good rating by the Sustainable Restaurant Association (SRA), which has been called ‘the Michelin stars of the sustainability world’.

Terry Waldron, COO, CH&CO, said: “The actions we take today have consequences for our children and grandchildren’s future on this wonderful planet, that’s why CH&CO takes a long-term approach to operating in a socially responsible, sustainable way; it’s part of who we are. In the CH&CO Planet Report, we share some of the ways we serve great quality food that doesn’t cost the earth and helps towards our goals for the future.

“We’re very proud to hold three stars from the SRA. Achieving this is just the beginning, sustainability is a complex ever-changing area and there will always be room for improvement.  By working in partnership with the SRA, we’ll continue to shape our policies in line with the latest developments and challenges to make positive changes. There is no quick fix when it comes to sustainability, but we’re committed for the sake of our planet and future generations.”

The sustainable business rating is based on ten areas that consider society, sourcing and environmental practices, and in line with this the CH&CO Planet Report outlines its approach, achievements and ongoing commitments under the headings of Celebrate Local & Seasonal; Serve More Veg & Better Meat; Source Fish Responsibly; Support Global Farmers; Treat Staff Fairly; Support the Community; Feed People Well; Value Natural Resources; Reduce, Reuse, Recycle; and Waste No Food.
