Abstract
Bartlett Mitchell Chef of the Year winner, Will Rose, recently undertook a three-day trip to Copenhagen along side chefs Adam Byatt and Pete Redman (Bartlett Mitchell chef director) as part of his prize.

Offering a number of culinary experiences, the trio visited top city restaurants, including Relae, Manfreds, Geist, Kong Hans Kaelder, Restaurant 108  and Hart Bakery.

Rose, who also undertook a stage at The Latymer restaurant (Surrey) with chef Matt Worswick and has worked alongside Byatt and Tom Kitchin at the Verdura Resort (Sicily) as part of his prize, said:  “Winning Chef of the Year meant I was offered a trip of a lifetime.

“Not only did I get to eat at some amazing restaurants that I’ve only read and dreamt of, but I got to see a city I've always wanted to go to.

“My experiences have been amazing. Going to Sicily with Adam Byatt to work alongside him and Tom Kitchin was incredible, as well as spending time with Matt Worswick and his team at his Michelin-starred restaurant in Surrey.

“I’m so grateful for the knowledge they have passed on. If Bartlett Mitchell didn’t have a competition like this, I wouldn’t have these memories that will forever stay with me.”

Redman added: “We really wanted Will to have a unique experience and chose Copenhagen to give him exposure to food and concepts he wouldn’t normally see.

“As well as visiting the restaurants, he was able to spend time with myself and Adam, which enabled him to gather insight into his career development.

“(Bartlett Mitchell’s) approach to training and development mirrors our culture; we don’t like to offer ‘off-the-shelf’ programmes but more a development package that suits the individual.

“While it’s important to develop skills, we believe that a successful chef should have the chance to spend social time with experienced chefs to allow for closer mentoring.”
