Abstract
Potato specialist Aviko crowned executive chef Paul Capener the winner of its Chef Hacks competition.

Encouraging caterers to share their top tips for making life easier in the professional kitchen, the contest coincided with the launch of the company’s Chef Hacks series, which provides recipe inspiration for latest taste and food trends.

Capener, executive chef at Addington Equestrian Centre, was named the first ever winner for showing chefs how to weigh out their water using kitchen scales when creating shortcrust pastry.

He said: “I am delighted to be the winner of Aviko’s Chef Hacks with my top tip for creating pastry.

“Competitions like this provide a great platform for chefs and caterers to share their wealth of knowledge with each other, helping to strengthen the industry.”

Capener was awarded £500 cash as well as a chef’s toolkit worth £350 and a month’s supply of Aviko products.

Aviko commercial director of UK and Ireland, Mohammed Essa,  added: “After sharing our own Chef Hacks on how to benefit from the latest consumer trends, (Aviko) wanted to bring it back to UK chefs and caterers who we know are a fountain of knowledge.

“The competition provided the golden opportunity to share top tips for making kitchen life that little bit easier and we are pleased to announce Paul Capener as our worthy winner.”
