Aramark wins two education contracts worth £3.3m

23rd Nov 2009 - 00:00
Abstract
Aramark has announced two education contracts with the University of Salford in Manchester and Motherwell College in Glasgow.
The contracts have a combined predicted sales total of £3.3m per year offering a comprehensive breakfast, lunch, vending and snack menu to students as well as hospitality to staff, visitors and functions. Motherwell College and Aramark have worked in partnership for the last five years. The new contract will run for a further three years and sees Aramark operating a restaurant, Costa coffee bar and convenience store at the new Motherwell College, based at a brand new site at Ravenscraig. From 'The Works' hot counter, students can choose from a comprehensive breakfast menu, and for a hot lunch, students can pick their food to order at the chef's live cookery theatre. Made to order sandwiches and salads are also available at the deli counter. A wide range of 'grab and go' items are available from 'The Bite' snack bar and a retail shop selling drinks and confectionery has been opened alongside an internet café to enable students to log on whilst they eat. Neil Thomson, commercial manager, at Motherwell College, said: "The Ravenscraig base is a new and exciting unit and we are delighted to be working alongside Aramark again. Aramark's foodservice solution has delivered innovation far beyond the expectations of our students and we look forward to continuing the partnership." Aramark has been working with Salford University since 2007. Through its new contract, it supplies 11 campus outlets with expansive Costa offerings and snack bars, fast food, traditional meals, wok cooking, salad bars and sandwiches for both internal and external customers. Jan Wilman, director of commercial services at the University of Salford said: "Food services across the university have improved enormously since Aramark started working with us. Sales have increased more than 40% in two years and customer demand has justified improvements to two major outlets and the opening of two new coffee bars for 2009/10. So far, customers have been extremely impressed by the new developments."
