AiP brings taste of the past to Worcestershire school
Abstract
School caterers Alliance in Partnership (AiP) has been serving Victorian era and 1940s wartime food this July as part of a week long celebration to mark the 200th anniversary of AiP school, Tardebigge First School near Bromsgrove.

Menus included a Victorian lunch, a Vintage Afternoon Tea and a Dig for Victory Lunch, in which AiP’s Showcase Chef, Jean Marc Bernard and AiP Catering Manager Nicola Jones, prepared a war time meal with fresh produce picked by the children from the school’s own vegetable patch.

Julie Cutler, head teacher, Tardebigge CE First School said: “The week was a great success and we were delighted with AiP’s involvement and support with all of the events. The children really enjoyed growing their own vegetables and having the chance to help cook them in the school kitchens.”

The 1940s menu included ‘Off the Ration’ Toad in the Hole and Lord Woolton Vegetable Pie, along with a Syrup Loaf for dessert.
