Jewish Care, working in partnership with Hospital Kosher Meals and NHS food supplier Medirest, will provide its range of kosher reformed pureed meals to hospital patients within the M25.

The social care provider to the Jewish community developed the range in response to an increase in client needs across its care homes.

Production will take place in the kitchen of a new care home during the evenings and the range will include five different meals, which are meat and vegetarian parav meals.

Steve Cenci, managing director of Healthcare at Compass Group UK & Ireland, said: “We are delighted that as a result of the collaboration between ourselves, Jewish Care and Hospital Kosher Meals, that these specialised pureed meals have been created.

“Our leading dietician has been involved with the development of the products and it is great that patients will now be able to receive these meals.

“We are only too aware of the difficulties dysphagia patients face, and it’s a positive step to be able to bring comfort to those Jewish patients by providing Kosher options.”

Around 600 meals a month will be produced to start with, which is expected to increase over time.

Hospital Kosher Meals Service, a registered charity, has been providing strictly kosher meals, soups, deserts and sandwiches to Jewish patients in hospitals and other situations throughout greater London for almost 50 years
